Ride Report — Kilometer by Kilometer
Stage I: Start from Levico Terme and Warmup (km 0 – 13.9)
We roll out at 443 m above sea level. Departing from Levico Terme, you immediately soak in the historic atmosphere of this alpine spa town. The first 13 km provide an ideal warmup. The Cube Stereo Hybrid delivers power with velvety smoothness – on flat segments, Tour mode maintains effortless momentum without draining battery reserves. Legs quickly find their rhythm, and the computer shows a steady 20-22 km/h. This is the moment to breathe deeply before what lies around the next bend.
Stage II: Crux Climb — A Test of Character (km 13.9 – 16.1)
The real battle begins. From km 13.9, the gradient kicks up drastically. An average of 12.2% is merely a prelude to a brutal 28% wall. I switch instantly into Turbo mode, weighting the front wheel and balancing low over the top tube. The motor howls under load, but relentless torque turns an impossible wall into something conquerable. A cadence of 85-90 rpm keeps power transfer smooth, even as your calves register every single watt.
Stage III: The Peak at 783 m a.s.l. (km 16.7)
We crest onto the Altopiano della Vigolana. The panorama overlooking Lake Levico from this vantage point is pure poetry. Time for a quick espresso stop, a look at the data (heart rate steady, battery at 65%), and taking in the sweeping mountain scenery. This is mountain biking at its finest.
Stage IV: Dynamic Descent (1.9 km) and Return (km 22.3 – 24.4)
The descent is pure technical flow. Dropping -215 m over less than 2 km demands absolute focus and steady hands. The 4-piston brakes on the E-MTB shine – modulation is superb, allowing you to brake late and accelerate out of corners. Hitting a top speed of 42.8 km/h on loose gravel delivers an intense shot of adrenaline!
Nature and Attractions
The Trentino region is a true cycling paradise. Lake Levico and neighboring Lake Caldonazzo create an exceptional microclimate. Meanwhile, the Altopiano della Vigolana presents a rugged, pristine mountain character where nature reigns supreme. Don't miss exploring the historic Habsburg-era spa architecture in Levico Terme itself.
Telemetry and Analysis
An average speed of 16 km/h on this demanding profile is deeply satisfying. Burning around 1200 kcal proves that even on an e-bike, substantial physical input is required. Keeping heart rate in the aerobic endurance zone (Z2-Z3) proved crucial for overall stamina.
Espresso Stop
Back in Levico Terme, reward yourself at one of the cozy lakeside or promenade cafés. A rich Italian espresso alongside a slice of homemade tart is the ultimate post-ride recovery.
Practical Tips
1. Tires: Choose at least 2.4" width with aggressive tread. Pressure: 1.4-1.6 bar (depending on rider weight) for optimum traction over loose rock and roots.
2. Gearing: A 1x12 drivetrain is standard. Ensure your cassette has a 50T or 52T climbing cog – you will thank yourself on 28% grades.
3. Battery Management: Alternate power modes wisely. Use Eco on flats and connectors, reserving Turbo for steep walls. A 625-750 Wh battery will easily cover 50+ km.
4. Safety: Always carry offline maps and a preloaded GPX track. Weather conditions in alpine valleys can change rapidly.
